Founded in 1954 as the British American Trade Center, our organization has evolved over the years to become one of the most important and influential UK/US bilateral trade organizations in the United States. Our Council is a member of the British American Business Council, formed in 1994 as the coordinating body for the various British American business organizations in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, with a total membership in excess of 3,500 businesses.
More than 200 UK companies have established operations in the Bay Area and over 350 US companies headquartered here have offices or subsidiaries in the United Kingdom. This represents one of the greatest concentrations of bilateral business in one geographic area within the United States
This unique concentration provides our Corporate and Individual members with an unprecedented opportunity to establish business and social contacts with individuals and organizations who have a common interest in promoting and expanding bilateral trade and relationships between and within our countries.
We focus on providing practical networking opportunities for our members by organizing a number of business and social events throughout the year, many of which you will find listed on this web site. In addition, we jointly sponsor and promote events with other Bay Area organizations that we believe will be of value to our members.
To allow our members to connect and stay connected, we publish an annual directory. The BABC 2006 Directory contains an alphabetical listing of both the Council's corporate members together with a company profile and contact information, and a listing of the Council's individual members. I strongly encourage you to make use of the directory and the many other services offered by the Council as well as those of the network of trade organizations in the British American Business Council, details of which are given in this directory.
